Did anybody else notice that this "fourth generation iPod touch image" has the camera in the middle top of the body???
Maybe because the fourth generation iPod touch has a camera in the middle top of the body?
Are you serious? who cares about ipods & battery shortages when there is a crysis =/..
You are so right - because a terrible thing has occurred in Japan we shouldn't even mention them for a couple of years. Never mind that this is a website devoted to "Apple Mac Rumours and News You Care About". The next time something tragic happens here in America the entire website should shut down for a year or two, because Apple is an American company.

this is the rumor that comes out when there are no rumors.
I know it's just a rumor that comes and goes just like the Mac Tablet, true video iPod, etc. However, the Intel rumors did materialise, so maybe, but from the source this story's coming from, I highly doubt.

Yes, didnt you know?
Every country outside the US lives in poverty, where families must raise 17 children to send them out to work, and must fight to the death over food.
Maybe Japan was a stretch, but the part about China is absolutely not an overstatement.
Or perhaps the entire debacle at Foxconn has fallen on deaf ears?
;)

It would be cool for them to keep the yonah in the low-end MacBook. That way with the price drop they could get back to a $999 entry-level notebook.
Merom definitely in the Black Macbook though, if this is true.
Great News! Still hoping for a case redesign in the MBP for mine. :)

Exactly, Mac guys are though. Actually nobody is walking anywhere, very bad analogy. Apple isn't going to walk in, they're are going to use their thought processes, thier leadership, thier skills, thier talents, thier expirence, and their knowhow, to proove there's a reason why Apple makes things better then the other, and they will once again be proven right, I hope.

While I agree, MobileMe is still in my eyes the best of the bunch. That's how they get away with charging $99/year. However, if it became free, they could really talk up how great owning a Mac is because of MobileMe.
Some of you may remember way back in the day, before Mobileme was .mac, it was known as itools and it was free. It was a perk that came with buying a Mac.

Aplogies if this has been done before, and it's a little off-topic, but this is a link to an article about OS X performance on Core 2 Extreme (Conroe)
http://www.tbreak.com/reviews/article.php?id=461
Basically, they've installed a "floating" copy of OS X intel onto an intel mobo with C2E.
I thought this line was particularly impressive:
"These last two tests were also conducted on that same PC with Windows installed and we see the Mac performing as well as Windows in Cinebench and a mere 3% slower in Photoshop which is especially impressive considering that Photoshop CS2 was running under Rosetta on the Mac. "
Who needs to wait for CS3?
Edit: on reflection, I'm not sure if I believe this...do you think it might be a hoax?

All I am thinking about after this news is the release date of the Iphone 6.
Me too.
This year I'll have some fun with Android, since Apple's coasting. It's their loss and my gain.
Besides it's very fun to check out what's up with the competition first hand.
Thanks Apple!

two things:
a) Does nobody read?
From TFA:
Apple is said to presumably be planning to also release Mac OS X Lion on physical media to support users who are running older Mac OS X versions incompatible with the Mac App Store or who have slow Internet connections that would make downloading the large update unwieldy.
Granted, I think that the article is a little bit of intentional flamebait because they use wishywashy words like "preferred" to start up a discussion to ratchet up page views.... But come on, people. We all know that every time Macrumors tries to start controversy on a perceived "change" in functionality or standards, nine times out of ten there's more than one option available... '
I swear, this is like explaining nested hierarchies to a creationist...
b) to PMZ, regarding Time Machine... It's not a "single snapshot"... Since you can go back to any point in time, just go back to a point on the Time Machine timeline BEFORE everything went berserk with a given file or directory. For a full system restore, though, it's always most sensible to do a clean install from the system disc. Again, see above, as app store download clearly is not the only method.

I'm sure at the very least the MBP will get the new chips soon (within a month or so). The question is, whether it will get a case redesign/new features. So let's make a list of things you'd like to see happen. Personally I'd like to see:
FW800
DL Superdrive
Swappable HD
Expresscard 54
Case dedesign or material change
I wouldn't be surprised if the engineers were too busy just getting it ready for MacWorld when it debuted to give it a full redesign. Also from what I've read they didn't want to change the appearance too much to make the transition to Intel seamless.

I've never heard of this company -- are they reputable, does anyone know? I've heard all sorts of stories abut these types of things being spyware or some such, don't want to pollute my Mac with any of that garbage!
GARBAGE . . . . . NO.....
Sophos are one of the most respected AV suppliers in the world. Most home users have never heard of them though as they ONLY supply High-End AV solutions to Big businesses. The company I work for uses SOPHOS and has done for quite a few years..... the Windows client has a tiny footprint compared to McAfee, Norton / Symantec etc..... i.e. it slows your machine down FAR less than all the other solutions.
I think it is a little unfair to compare this to garbageware free PC solutions, before you call something garbage it is perhaps sensible to research it first. I run the Corporate version of Sophos on my MacPro, MacMini and MacBook Pro, as well as on my Windows Laptop and Media Centre PC. Best solution out there in my own (humble) opinion - and no, I don't work for Sophos, just use their products in a live, corporate environment on a daily basis.

I purchased the TOMTOM app early on and paid $99 for it. One week later, I found it posted in the App Store for $49.99 and today, a couple of weeks after that, the price is $59.99. I have searched the App Store site, iTunes Store AND the Apple site and do not understand how to find a Customer Service Link to ask about a refund for the difference in price. Does anyone know how to reach Customer Service for the APP Store? Thanks in advance...
Would love to know if you received some sort of a refund from Apple or TomTom....let us know.

Very true. Listen to the man.
There's many analysts that believe ARM will supersede Intel.
Well, first of all, don't confuse *x86* with Intel. Intel has made ARM chips in the past (XScale, StrongARM), and might in the future (including a recent rumor about apple moving to using Intel's foundries for the A5 later in the year, and the A6 or whatever the next chip will be called). For that matter, there are other x86 designers and foundries (AMD and Global Foundries & VIA) and Intel has had several other arches of its own. Intel is the largest chipmaker in the world, ARM is a chip design corp that does excellent work and licenses their work to foundries and other design houses - they're not remotely similar companies except in the sense that they both work on CPUs.
The ARM arch *may* one day supersede x86, but *Intel* isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
In the short term I don't see that happening quite yet, ARM usually focuses on low power first, not performance, and while there is a convergence in the netbook/phone/tablet areas, an iMac, MP, or MBP based on any current ARM designs for example would be woefully underpowered compared to an x86 design.
Apple licensing Mac OS X to Dell.
If it were done well I can think of plenty of people that would like OSX Server on Poweredge blades

i took the liberty to re-write the rules AS I UNDERSTANND THEM, which incorporate all the Q&A
there are a couple of passages that are still unclear to me, which are higlighted in red:
Don't panic: decent re-write, but there's a few comments:
While there are certain scenarios where some heroes can win while others lose, it's possible for all heroes to win the game. And I sent all heroes PMs with their own secret agency, so they know exactly what they want the endgame to be.
Yes, you have to both kill the Villain and obtain the Artifact to win the game.
You're right that a team split means the other team has to move to a different room. However, if they meet up in the same room, they do not necessarily merge.
You're correct re: the Villain being able to place more than one trap or monster during a turn provided he has enough turns saved up. But it does not have to be a monster and a trap, it can be two monsters or two traps or whatever.
Note that the villain can wait two turns and earn two turns that round. It is not limited to one turn per round.
Traps trigger as soon as a hero attempts to leave the room. It does not matter which turn the heroes are on that round, the only thing needed is that a hero attempts to leave the room in where a trap is present.
Finally, the healing treasure is even better than you thought - it heals ALL party members by 5 HP.

 Not progress because you'd have to relearn something?
You missed my point; it isn't progress because it's an enormous step backward. It's not the "learning something new" part, it's the "throwing away everything you already know."
Mate, what progress would ever have been made if people always held to that argument? In the 80's/90's there were probably more than a few people in the design/publishing industry saying, 'Sorry, can't switch to Macs Got 20 years experience rubbing Letraset down and maintaining my bromide machine.'
I would see your point if switching everything to metric would actually make things more efficient, but it wouldn't. People who use Imperial units are already comfortable with it - the system already works, and isn't broken.

I am a current VZW Blackberry Tour customer. I'm currently eligible to upgrade to iPhone 4 (Verizon has gone well out of its way to make me aware of this). My patience has truly been tested, as I've been assuming all along that iPhone 5 would be coming out in June.
So what the hell do I do now? I'm not waiting until 2012.

Yeah, that was prior to the invites sent out. Jobs from experience will be pitching the movie store hard..meaning the laptop updates have to take a back seat for now. I mean they announced a 24" iMac quietly just to give you an idea of how important this is to them. Laptop updates? i wouldnt count on it...at least for now
Well, laptops is what Apple is selling tons of these days. Who knows, maybe they want to ride that wave even harder, pushing all the people that see their friends beautiful Macbooks to buy Apples brand new Macbook Pro with Core2Duo. ;) Yes, I want to order one already..

(iMac is a little too "white" for my taste)
Racist. :p
Kidding. I'm think they'll go with a high end black model eventually. Maybe give it a better video card or something to justify another hundred bucks or so. I'm hoping they do the same with the MacBooks. Maybe a new lowend pro, or a high end nonpro with a built-in video card. That would justify a $1500 purchase over a $1000 one to me.

I could easy imagine a hybrid solution as many others. On source level there is for 85% of programs few changes required; given only using "official" APIs. Ok, that a guess.
An entry level iMac with eight ARM cores would easy serve all needs for most user incl some light image processing. Apple would have full control on HW/SW.
Advanced and power user will have intel&Arm dual solution, BTO. Similar to the hybrid GPU today.
Another more stupid idea could be that Intel put the ARM core in their own chip and run actually both at same time ... Just dreaming ...
