so I was looking around the apple store this afternoon till I noticed something :D

When selecting the MBP in the apple store you'll get some info below...
There's this one title where it shows front row... it says "It's showtime" :)

maybe it's a hint from apple  the MBP is the onle one where it says "it's showtime". the rest all say something else like "put on a show"...

ah well I'm just going crazy from waiting for the new MBP's...

(first post though I've been reading here for a long time)

Did you even bother to read this link that someone posted for you cav23j? http://openforum.sophos.com/t5/Sophos-Anti-Virus-for-Mac-Home/Slow-down-when-scanning-Work-around-now-available/td-p/295

Was having problems getting sophos to complete a scan without bringing the MBP to a standstill and require a reboot... I read that thread and everything worked as it shouild. It has given me no other problems.

Since when is an operating system an "app"?

Since when does the App Store have to be limited to selling "apps"?

The App Store (unless they change things) wouldn't allow that.

Since this will be the first time they're selling the OS itself via the app store, they most certainly ARE changing things. I find it baffling that people can even imagine a scenario where they do a download like this but make no other changes to their terms or functionality.

Great... just have to download 3+ gigabytes every time I want to install it.

Why? You don't have to do that now with apps, right?

    BINGO! :D

Well, due to my disappointment that they didn't release it at WWDC, I can't stand the waiting anymore so I've decided to go into suspended animation until they release the MBP in the next few weeks. Somebody make sure to wake me when its time to open up my wallet!
Only if I get some of that opend wallet.

I can see the crafty photoshop composites now...a keypad from this funky german gadget, a display from an old star trek episode, a set of floating M&Ms stylized as hot buttons...

    there we go!

wouldn't surprise me, considering they ran the entire bridge of the Enterprise NX-01 in the series Star Trek: Enterprise using PM G4 Cubes

*unless I'm missing something, no on-access scanning

ESET Cybersecurity adds an extra layer of detection to OS X Internet security features:

Blocks any attempts to infect your Mac or steal your personal information.
Eliminates threats to your Mac from email and removable media, such as USB, FireWire, CDs, and DVDs.
Protects your Mac from malicious third party applications.

    It's pretty much a full-featured NOD32 for Mac.

Weve never had a game like this before, so you shouldnt let this put you off.

if we explore is that our move and then the villain makes his? Or if we pick a door would this be a way to avoid the villains traps, since he may have put one in the room were in?

I would think that the traps have already been laid. So you may have a point in choosing another room.

Or just treat all income as ordinary income and eliminate all the preferential treatment certain forms of income enjoy. Eliminate capital gain, business, gift and estate taxes, and treat all income from all sources as ordinary income and tax accordingly.

I think that could be the easiest way to solve the problem simply, but it would also have to come with a vast elimination of deductions and exemptions.

And we should, after an across the board cut, IMO.

There are two big parts of the budget that are hard to cut though. Social Security and Medicare really can't be cut without raising the retirement age to 70 NOW and cutting benefits. I don't think that's going to happen.

Funny to see you are basing a $4000 computer purchase on a $79 piece of crap-KEA furniture - LOL.

I live in a teeny apartment, so even if I pitched the wardrobe I'd likely still be space constrained in whatever I replaced it with. Also, getting rid of furniture and installing new furniture is an enormous PITA - especially when your existing $799 wardrobe is still in great condition.

And you can get a pretty sweet Mac Pro for around $2K. All I'd need for the next few years, anyhow.

Also, shrinking the Mac Pro would cut down on the space it takes to store inventory at Apple stores, and reduce shipping costs by slashing both the weight and volume of the product. It would make the product more price competitive and/or more profitable.

If Apple cannot beat them....they sue them. Way to go Apple, you are devoid of morals and innovation.

When can we officially say that Apple is now the New Microsoft?

Apple is devoid of morals and innovation? Are you kidding me? Do you have any idea of Apple's philanthropy? Also, Apple INVENTED the whole concept of touch UI for iPhone and iPad - now the rest of the industry is scrambling to catch up by copying the leader. While imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, the imitators are simply copying for free what took Apple years to develop at a likely cost of several hundred million dollars. And Apple does not have a right to protect its investment?

Apple should just buy Samsung. That will get them a big foot in the consumer electronics sector.

I told her to wait it out until 9.25 at the earliest then buy it.

She has been waiting with me ever since I found out about merom in June. She broke after it wasn't announced this Tuesday.

She's going to feel regret I fear when it's announced in 10 days.If she doesn't open it, she can return it for full refund up to 14 days after she gets it. But she should understand Apple needs to stagger new model releases weekly, even when they are all ready, in order to maximize press coverage. It's Marketing 101.

Another reason for the MBP delay is the supply of Merom processors to Apple is growing at a rate that favors iMacs first then MBP later this month. Apple must build tens of thousands of new MBPs in 3 different configurations before they can announce them as "for sale today".

She can also come to her senses and phone Apple and cancel her order. It is quite irrational to order or buy a MBP right now.I ordered my MacBook Pro this morning!!!!!!!

anyway I went on the website to see the ship date as soon as I could and here are the details...

    MBPRO 17/2.16 CTO
    2.16GHz Intel Core Duo
    2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM- 2x1GB
    120GB Serial ATA Drive@5400rpm
    Widescreen Display
    SD 8x(DVD+R DL/DVD+/-RW/CD-RW)
    BkLit Keyboard/Mac OS
    Airport Extreme Card&BT

    Estimated Ship Date
Sep 26, 2006 (wow that date looks familiar?!?!)

    Arrival Date
    Oct 3, 2006

Either way if I get it with Merom or not I'm opening that damn box as soon as I see it.You're breaking my balls Taylor.

This is excellent evidence Apple is not shipping any more Yonah MacBook Pros. Good catch Taylor. That's perfect. What you are going to get will be a 2.33GHz C2D for sure. You might want to upgrade to the Seagate 160BG HD though. :p

Totally right. Apple is perfect and everyone else should just close up shop... Please get a grip on reality before posting nonsense.

Nonsense is saying a company that has more demand than they can supply should give parts to companies that can't sell anything they make.

When RIM can find people to purchase their stuff and Apple can't, RIM will have a point.

I just don't understand the thought of an iPad 3 this fall. Unless they're trying to line up iPad updates with iPod updates, I don't see how this is possible or even really needed. I like the timing of the current releases. It offsets any updates of iPhones and iPods because they all have different release times.

Having iOS 5 this fall does make sense, honestly.

Could care less either way. Although I'd love Apple to give us more ways to customize our screens for iOS devices, Apple has always protected their UI... it's that consistency that makes Apple devices so clean and easy.

The expression is "couldn't care less" by the way.

true. the photographer thing is a bit whiffy.

I think its basically going to be similar to a nano, with a unique original keypad design and larger screen. maybe throw in an isight or 2 for good measure.

do you think they'd make it work with cingular and the rest, or do think they'd make their own service like helio?

I would bet it will come out as GSM initially, though perhaps they will release a CDMA as well.

Every pc laptop being sold at a lower price than the MacBook is also competing with the Macbook. Some people look at price before features.
By this logic Yugos and Ferraris are also in competition. Hey, they both drive!

A $499 Dell laptop is not Apple's direct competition - to find that you look at price, features and size. Which is where every manufacturer will start to move their $1299 and $1499 laptops over to Core 2 Duo. The $1099 is a little more problematic (the low-end Core 2 being more expensive than Core Duo's low-end), but maybe Apple will take a small hit in order to push the MacBook market even harder.

"You can buy that $1000 Windows laptop with old technology - or you can get this new Apple laptop with the latest and greatest for the same money, Mr. Switcher."

Yet another sign Apple is going to kill the Mac Pro.

You'll see! With Final Cut Pro on it's deathbed there is no way the Mac Pro is sticking around!

    /s

I think quite the opposite. I think It will increase the market.

I'm actually not too thrilled to see this. Mac OS X does NOT need virus protection. Companies like this make OS X seem like it's prone to viruses.

As Rosius forced the gargantuan double doors open, the ground rumbled with the weight of the doors scraping the floor.

Before the group is a huge entrance, the far walls barely perceptible in the darkness. "We go in," Rosius stated once again as he led the way into the mansion.

The moment the last foot left the earthy ground and settled on the marble floor, the gargantuan doors screamed and slammed shut behind the group. Only Rosius was unfazed, shouting "it matters not! We are not leaving without the Artifact!"

Lamps suddenly lit up around the room, the flames waving gently in the wind that came from the outside and trapped.

    "YOU DARE ENTER MY DOMAIN!"

The booming voice shook the floor. Again, only Rosius was unfazed. "I have come to slay you! Your evil will be short-lived!" shouted the Wizard.

Only laughter replied the Wizard's words, booming around the room, coming from everywhere and nowhere at once.

    ***

The heroes explores the room. The Entrance is a huge room with columns at each sides leading to several stairs at the far end of the room. There seems to have been a throne upon the top of the stairs, but nothing is there. Instead, something is glowing on the floor near the leftmost edge of the platform.

YOU HAVE FOUND A HEALING TREASURE. IT HAS NO EFFECT.

YOU MOVE THROUGH THE TOP RIGHT DOOR INTO A HALLWAY.
