This may be a dumb question, but why would apple just use the new chips in mbp's and not the mb? Dosn't seem to make sense. As soon as core 2 merom comes out every pc notebook will have it. Price wouldn't be an issue cause merom is same price as yonah, correct?

I was about to say, "What?! And lose the Windows compatibility they bragged on so much with the Intel transition? You're kidding me!", then I remembered that Windows 8 is also rumored (confirmed?) to run on ARM.

I agree with I student UK using the constraints of / makes it rather ambiguos (did I spell that right) as I originally read it. I believed the 2(9+3) to be in the denominator in which case the answer is clearly 2

Except that each and every single person who has purchased an Android phone could have purchased an iPhone instead. The fact there is one Android phone or ten Android phones is irrelevant. Every one of those people could have chose to buy an iPhone. They didn't.

Not every Android device is purchased. My brother has one only because IT WAS FREE (and he has no clue how to use even 10% of the functions). He has never once purchased an app.

That would be cool, though I'm still not sure why MobileMe is so useful, all in all it's just wireless syncing over the internet right? Like when you add an iCal event on your iPhone, it appears on your computer without having to connect the cable?

Fine. Seems like a logical move, but if Apple wants me to foot part of the bill for distributing their software (via my paid Internet connection) then I certainly expect a significant cut in the cost of the upgrade.
If you drive to the store to buy it instead, should they pay for your gas?
If you order it online, should they pay you for the bit of bandwidth that you used up in placing your order?
Maybe you'll be eco-friendly and walk to the store instead? Bill 'em for new soles on your shoes!

I find I am getting a hissing noise when hooked up using car speakers for playing music. It's a new cable and I have no idea if it's the car connection; the car kit; or the cable.
Hoping to get car kit for Xmas, but i'm not suprised by 'noise' coming through the 'line out' ... when a device cradle has antennae (GPS) / broadcast (bluetooth) electronics near by they can interfere. (my other experience with this is a portable XM radio w/ cradle holder - and could never get line out to not his, had to use fixed mount to car antennae for best transfer of sound).
Hopefully others are not having this problem, and you can exchange as defect.

... With MacBook Pros finally coming with core 2 duo the focus will move back to the original problem...HEAT!!. I don't even know what they could do to solve the issue with the heat but everyone would be smart to invest in those notebook cooling pads because if Apple does nothing...these notebooks will be sizzlin'.

Aye, and I have noticed that Apple was very smart to market their line as notebooks rather than laptops. A notebook you put on a table and have less of a chance of getting another "McDonald's hot coffee burns lap" suit. :eek:

Sure, it's capactive now, and higher rez, but it's still a bunch of scrollable icons on a phone to launch apps.
Wonder if the tablets they're going for are pre-honeycomb or post? It'd be hard to compare Honeycomb UI to anything Apple's currently doing, and any tablet prior to that, there's surely plenty of prior art android tablets? There were a whole bunch (admittedly lousy chinese cheap rubbish) tablets being demo'd at every tech conference for a year before Apple even admitted they had a tablet to sell.
The tablets have to be included I guess, but it's going to be hard work. The phones are the obvious vector they're going for, they do have UI patents, but when it comes down to it, and other phone manufacturers (or rather their lawyers) see how much money is involved, I can see it getting messy as everyone who had a phone with buttons on it (and there are many) will want to take a shot.

I wish apple would just hurry up and get the MBP upgraded i need one within the next 4/5 weeks before uni starts!! an with regards to redesign im all for it aslong as they dont put an integrated keyboard in like the MB cos its rubbish!!

I think the iPhone is going to be awesome! Since when can apple not jump in? Where did iTunes come from? That was almost instant! The iPhone should be equipt with similar programs such as iTunes and iPhoto. What I want to see is a 35" HD Television come out by Apple!

Apple is also gunning for the iPad 3 to be released alongside it but I doubt it'll end UO that way.
Considering Apple uses the same suppliers for the iPhone and iPad, and considering how they have shortages for every device they release due to massive demand, I just don't think that it is even possible for Apple to release both devices in the same time window.

I've heard similar rumors about MobileMe going free. Makes sense if Apple could leverage the new iAd system to generate targeted campaigns, and effectively subsidise the cost of opening the system up to more users.
It would also pave the way for multiple cloud-based user accounts for the iPad.

Only the group leaders communicate the wishes of their group to the Game Gods via PM. They may take the consensus of the group, or they may implement decisions unilaterally without regard to group majority.

just updated my Amazon android app on my HTC Inspire and it works
5GB is enough space for weeks of listening. all you need is to choose some favorite songs you listen to over and over again for this. not like you have to upload every song you own and listen to only once in a few years

So I just bought a new 4 core Sandy Bridge iMac tonight and now this news breaks. Is ARM actually building anything in any way shape or form that competes with the Intel X86 stuff right now or is this just vaporware at this point?
